Celebrating 40 years… Equal Rights for Woman in Sports!

We want to wish a Happy 40^th Anniversary to Title IX! This celebration marks the progress and movement in equality for young people in the United States. It’s especially an important milestone to remember for our young athletes going into the Olympics this year.

40 years ago Title IX passed a law in 1972 that required gender equity for boys and girls in every educational program that received federal funding. Title IX began the tough fight against sex discriminations, and inequalities specifically in the math, science, and athletic arenas. This fight allowed young people specifically young women to have the ability to pursue roles in previously male dominated fields. 

Title IX is best known for its impact on high school and collegiate athletics, and often associated with young women equalities.  There couldn’t be a better time to celebrate their 40^th anniversary than now, before the 2012 London Olympic Games. For the first time in history the United States is sending more female to the U.S.A Olympics than males. What a powerful testament to those who started the fight for equality in 1972.
