Choosing the Right Job Interview Clothes

When it comes to job interview clothes, one style definitely does not fit all. Now, more than ever, it’s important to take a closer look at the company you’ll be interviewing with — not only will it help you get a taste for their business, it will help you determine what to wear when you get called back for that all-important interview.

Dress Conservative for Conservative Companies
If you’re interviewing for a position at conservative company or in a conservative field, business attire is still the way to go. Here, it’s still better to overdress than to underdress, and the power suit still has a few plays left. So, keep your look understated and professional — and always dress for the job you want.

Know When To Keep It Casual
At some companies, wearing a suit means that you cared enough to make a good impression. At others, it has the opposite effect. It tells the interviewer that either #1, you aren’t a culture fit, or #2, you didn’t research the company. Because if you did your research, you’d know that no one wears a suit to the office — EVER. So let this be a lesson to you — always dress the part.

Board Shorts? Only If You’re Brilliant.
According to Google people operations manager, Brian Power, there is no interview dress code at Google. As he explains in this article from Mashable, "I've seen people come in in board shorts and a T-shirt and blow [us] away with their intellect, and I've seen people dressed to the nines who were unprepared. If you come in, be prepared and dress however you feel comfortable."

No matter what style of job interview clothes you choose, just remember to be yourself at the interview. While talent and style may get you in the door, it’s your personality that will set you apart.

Express Your Gratitude With These Personalized Gifts for Employees

Express Your Gratitude With These Personalized Gifts for Employees

Finding the right way to say “thank you” isn’t always as easy as it seems — especially at work. But if an employee does something truly exceptional, a simple email or a quick “thanks” may not be enough. Personalized gifts for employees are the perfect go-to for this type of situation. They’re professional and thoughtful — and there are lots of options. Here are some of our favorites:

#1  A Note Expressing Your Gratitude
Did your employee do something really great? Well, take note of it. Get out those company note cards, put pen to paper, and express your thanks. Need some of the fancy stuff? We’ve got what you need right here.
But once you get to writing, make sure you’re specific with your feedback. Tell them what you appreciate and why. Then hand over the goods and write yourself a note for being the best boss ever.

#2  The Holy Grail of Your Corporate Collection
Go through your company’s promotional products and look for the good stuff —like the polo that sells out every year, or the wine set that everyone talks about. Not sure which products win the popular vote at your company? Take a trip to the water cooler and take an informal poll. The smile on your employee’s face will be worth the effort.

#3  Cold. Hard. Cash.
Really, this should be number one, shouldn’t it?  Well, as you can see, we’re writing for a promotional products company, so there’s no way this was going to make it to the top. But take it from us, people like money — whether it comes in the form of a bonus, raise, or a few extra dollars in their pockets. However, if those things are completely out of reach, a really nice gift card should do the trick. Just make sure its related to the employee’s hobbies or interests.

What are you waiting for? Don’t let this moment pass you by. Grab that employee by the collar and show them just how much you  appreciate their service. Or better yet, keep it professional, and get them one of the gifts we’ve suggested above. Happy shopping!

Five Ways to Make a Statement with Eco-Friendly Swag

With California’s recent ban on plastic bags and other environmental initiatives on the horizon, eco-friendly swag is on the rise. Brands are now using everything from reusable tote bags and recycled goods to sustainable materials and plantable papers to get their message out. If you’re interested in making a positive brand impression, while reducing your impact on the earth, here are a few ideas to get you started:

1. Make a Name for Yourself in Bamboo
Traditional hardwood has nothing on this incredibly resilient, eco-friendly material. Its good looks make it an ideal choice for business card holders and other desk accessories, as well as customized awards and coasters.

2. Never Settle for Less Than Earth-Friendly Seconds

Paper, plastic, glass and tires can all live second lives as notebooks, polo shirts and glassware. However, buying recycled promotional products doesn’t just reduce the need for new, it also continues the cycle, as many of them can be recycled again and again.

3. Put a Cork on It
Did you know that one cork tree can constantly produce cork for around 200 years? It’s also recyclable and biodegradable — not to mention waterproof, durable and even fire-resistant. It is becoming the eco-friendly material of choice for mouse pads, memo boards, mats and coasters.

4. Plant the Seed

Seed paper is an ideal material for marketers who want their brand awareness to  grow and grow — literally. Have a few coasters or bookmarks leftover from your last event? Plant them in soil and soon you’ll be tending a small garden of wildflowers. Talk about a lasting brand impression!

5. Continue the Cycle
Once you go green, it’s hard to go back. But with so many eco-friendly swag options to choose from, why would you ever want to?  Even if you buy new, you can strategically order something that can easily be recycled or reused. Encourage your customers and tradeshow attendees to pay it forward. The earth will thank you.
